Surgeon Says…

No two surgeons are the same.  In fact,  even surgeons in the same specialty differ markedly in approach–every surgeon is clearly unique in there own special way. However, there are some sayings that are simply indicative of surgeon speak that I think we all can agree on for the most part. Take a gander at the top ten list below and let me know what you think, enjoy!

  1. “Who is my scrub today?”

  2. “We do it the same way EVERY time.”

  3. “Can we have a fast turnover?”

  4. “Have you seen my”…[loupes, lead, phone etc.]

  5. “Hand me the thing.” (thing refers to the incorrect name of the said thing or vague hand gesture of the said tool) which is usually followed by…

  6. “Give me what I need, not what I ask for!’

  7. “Can you check my pager?”

  8. “I filled out the discharge orders already.”

  9. “I’ll be there in 10 minutes.”

  10. “I’m in the parking garage now.” [At the other facility]
